Why Chakra Camp?
Have you heard the term chakra but didn’t really know what it meant? Or maybe you have a vague idea that they are rainbow-colored swirly energy things in your body, but the rest is a bit of a mystery?
Chakra Camp is about unraveling the mystery and discovering this radiant internal source of power and healing that we all possess. Together, we will explore the interconnectedness of this energy with our senses, emotions and physical well-being. Under the trees and stars, we will play with yoga, meditation, sensory experiences, and intuitive art as pathways to a better relationship with our energy system, as well as its natural connection to our energetic oneness with each other and the earth.
More about chakras…
Chakra is an ancient Sanskrit word for “wheels of light,” it refers to centers in our bodies through which energy flows; they help regulate processes from organ function and immune system to emotional and mental well-being. There are seven major chakras in the subtle body – these vortexes of energy start at the base of your spine and run to the crown of your head.
Each chakra plays a unique role in your well-being, and is affected by your day-to-day experiences, thoughts and emotions. We are more than a physical body, we are a complete energy system and what we think and feel influences every cell in our body. Left untended, chakras can become out-of-balance, overactive or blocked, contributing to health issues, relationship challenges, depression, anxiety, stress and more.
Balancing the light and shadow
Let’s face it, we’re each a beautiful mess doing the best we can. The day-to-day is going to ebb and flow, but it’s never going to stop moving. So even if you are feeling Zen awesome one day, the next day could be filled with rough moments that send you into a tailspin. Maybe yesterday you had a relationship issue “break” your heart chakra. Maybe today you felt unsafe speaking your opinions at work, putting a chokehold on your throat chakra. Recalibrating and balancing is an ongoing journey.
This is why it is so valuable to understand each chakra and what we can do to keep this energy flowing freely – call it an energetic tune-up. Each chakra is made up of light and shadow elements that must be balanced to ensure a healthy mind, body and sense of Self. When you learn how to balance your chakras, you will experience a clearer mind, more energy, sharper intuition and an amazing feeling of flow in your life.
You are recalibrated.

Your Chakra Camp experience includes…
Yoga practice sessions where we will move through sequences designed to engage chakras on both a physical and energetic level. Ever take a yoga class where you did a heart-opening pose? 4th Chakra. Hip openers? 2nd Chakra. Ever crave heart- or hip-opening poses for no particular reason? With this practice, you will understand how to use yoga for diagnosing stuck or imbalanced chakras and then healing through movement of the energy housed in each chakra.
Creative sacred art and writing sessions to further diagnose the current state of your chakra system and better understand some of the characteristics of chakras — such as associated colors, influences, elements, emotional qualities and archetypes. We will play in a variety of creative mediums, exploring different areas of our lives and preferences to better understand the day-to-day influence of chakras, and the delight of accessing them through creativity.
Explore the senses as they relate to the chakras. Did you know you can heal your chakras by eating certain foods, applying certain scents, hearing certain sounds? Throughout the weekend, we will show you how to connect to your energetic system through the senses, and use food, scent and sound to aid in the healing. We will learn about and play with sensory experiences such as essential oils, crystals + vibrations, musical notes and mantras, and chakra-aligned food and beverages.
Connect with the greater energy of the world around us, through meditation and exploration of the beauty of our surroundings: Lake Crescent and the Olympic National Forest. We will practice both seated and walking meditation. Meditation heightens awareness and control of the nervous system, helping you manage your reaction to stimulus. In our easy hike to Marymere Falls, we will practice walking meditation and tune into the deep energetic system of the earth and nature.
Gather with a group of like-minded humans who seek to learn about and experience shifts in chakra energy, and who enjoy the sense of well-being that comes from being out in nature, with beautiful souls. We will stay on the grounds of a classic summer camp, gather for meals in an old-fashioned dining hall, hang out by the campfire, meditate by the lakeside. There will be windows of free time for relaxation, reflection and general play and silliness.
Optional: Chakra healing session with energetic healer Cyndi Hawkins. We are delighted to have our special guest and friend, Cyndi, sharing her magic by offering a limited number of 30-minute private sessions during the retreat. In Cyndi’s words “Learning your own body’s language is a practice of deep listening. Healing touch can help you get there.” This will be first-come, first-served offering at an additional fee of $50. (Note: We will send out a separate email to book advance reservations for this offering.) To learn more about Cyndi’s practice, visit her website.

About the accommodations
Our home sweet home for the weekend is NatureBridge at Olympic, located on Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park. The primary purpose for this camp is outdoor education for youth throughout the Western US. Private retreats such as ours help fund the attendance of youth in need. While the facility is warm, welcoming and comfortable, this is a “real” rustic camp adventure, bunk beds and all.
Each dorm accommodates up to 10 campers and has shared bathrooms in the dorm. Towels and bedding are provided by NatureBridge, although we recommend supplementing with your own favorite nesting supplies.
